Fecal Testing

Fecal testing, or stool analysis, is a series of tests done on a stool (feces) sample to help diagnose certain conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract. These conditions can include infection (such as from parasites, bacteria or viruses), poor nutrient absorption (such as exocrine pancreatic insufficiency), inflammation (such as colitis or Crohn’s disease), or cancer. A stool sample is collected in several special containers and sent to the laboratory.
